Based on the video game series of the same name; Ben Schwartz stars as the voice of the titular speedster, Jim Carrey plays Dr. Robotnik, and James Marsden plays Tom Wachowski.Recently, director Jeff Fowler explained such as Knuckles — the reason being that they wanted to first focus on establishing the rivalry between the blue blur and Dr. However, Fowler essentially promised that sequels would introduce such characters.Well, a new report by supposes that Paramount Pictures isn't only interested in having other fan-favourite Sonic the Hedgehog characters feature in a sequel but also giving them their very own movie. According to the site, a reputable source let them know that they're eyeing Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to play Knuckles.What's more, they're considering a standalone Knuckles movie which would come after the sequel. It's said that this solo movie would explore the character's origins as the Sonic the Hedgehog sequel itself wouldn't go too deep into such things. This is certainly plausible given what we saw of Knuckles' species in the first instalment —.

Directed by Jeff Folwer (the Oscar-winning 2004 animated short Gopher Broke), Sonic the Hedgehog pairs the titular hedgehog with Tom Wachowski (Marsden), a hapless human cop tasked with trying to keep up with Sonic and prevent the evil Dr. Robotnik (Carrey) from wrecking havoc on the world. To be fair, the source games don't exactly lend themselves to a cinematic adaptation naturally, so it was probably inevitable that the film version would significantly change things up. Still, Hollywood has an infamously rocky track record when it comes to re-imagining video games for the big screen, so who knows how the final result will turn out here.
